  • Instrumental in building the EMC Solution Enablement team communities for Oracle, Microsoft, and SAP on the EMC Community Network. Provided direction on community best practices to organization leadership.  Contributed technical expertise to these communities - particularly Oracle and SAP.
  • Developed and delivered training on social media interaction and engagement for the organization. This training ensured that the SDC team was prepared to participate in the ECN communities - a new experience for most of the team.
  • Defined social media return on investment, metrics, and analytics for a new initiative within the organization.
  • Provided successful and reusable solutions to customer needs using the EMC product portfolio - specifically enterprise storage, storage virtualization, unified storage, and data at rest encryption. These solutions reduced the amount of design work for the sales organization so that they could spend 35% more time with customers.

Additional Projects and Leadership

  • Architected, developed, and implemented a content and workflow management system for the organization. Using Open Source software along with Robert's expertise it allowed the SDC to avoid a significant budget item as well as deploy the system within two weeks of announcement of new business process. This system allowed the SDC to collaborate between members and the fields, report on business activities as well as make decisions based upon the utilization of the system with in-depth reporting capabilities. Workflow portal utilized LAMP technology (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).

  • Provided technical leadership to solution development teams in multiple geographic locations for NAS and Invista/VPLEX (SAN Storage virtualization) products.
  • Lead reviews of existing architectures and driving architectural convergence within the group,
  • Encouraged architectural excellence and consistency. Collaborated on new architectures with Solutions Validation Practice Team.
  • Provided technical or business analytical leadership for NAS and VPLEX, DLm, and Encryption products at Product Management Team meetings.

Additional Projects and Leadership

  • Ensured global pre sales success through the development and training of a team of 36 regional reviewers, in addition to the ongoing management of regional presales reviewers located in China and the United States.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform presales technical review of proposed business solutions containing EMC network storage, archival, data encryption, and storage virtualization products including the Celerra network file server product line, VPLEX products. Reviews resulted an 85% reduction in problems for new solutions.  Reviews of solutions include technical viability, product interoperability with customer environment and scalability. 
  • Review and analyze customer service documentation and case notes to identify preventable field issues and incorporate results into future reviews to proactively develop repeatable, successful solutions.
  • Consult with EMC product management, engineering, and training organizations to identify areas of opportunity to improve the overall quality of EMC products and services.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise to the Global Escalation Management team to isolate and resolve customer issues with EMC network storage products.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for the Presales Support desk to answer technical questions relevant to EMC network storage products with special emphasis on business continuance and disaster recovery features of the product.

Additional Projects

  • Established project management and quality assurance processes of workflow management system developed within the organization. Downtime and defects were reduced by 35% through this process.
  • Introduced and administered a software defect tracking software implementation and administration utilizing VMware ESX, Suse Linux, Apache, and Bugzilla). This system provided business metrics and decision making related to the workflow management system of the SVC.
