Mikrotik SWOS Upgrade Failures

Last night I was updating the Switch OS on my Mikrotik routers. I was doing it remotely, cause that's what you do when you only live three minutes away from the site. It was not working. Automatic update.  No joy.  Manual update?  Nope. It'd flash the upgrade in progress message and sometimes say, "Rebooting" but ultimately the version didn't change.  Could it be cache?  Tried a different brower.  Nope.

Then it occurs to me. Is there a safety feature that prevents upgrades when you're on a different subnet? So I RDC into a machine by my desk at work and issued the upgrade. Worked like a charm.

So if you're having issues updating SWOS on a Mikrotik device and you've read the instructions on their wiki (that talk about reseting the swtich and all that nonsense), try running the upgrade from the same subnet. It'll probably work.
